Jon serves as Chairman of Lewis & Munday's Corporate Services Practice Group (comprised of the Firm's public municipal and corporate law groups).
Jon was born in Maine, USA, but spent the first 18 years of his life in South America (Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Colombia). He is fluent in Spanish and well acquainted in the South American customs and culture. He has traveled extensively in South and Central America, New Zealand, the Caribbean and Europe. His hobbies include fly-fishing, photography, and bird hunting in the United States and around the world.
After completing law school, Jon practiced corporate, municipal and Latin American foreign trade and tax law at Baker & McKenzie, Chicago, Illinois.
Jon left Baker & McKenzie and joined A.G. Edwards & Sons (now Wells Fargo Securities) in St. Louis, Missouri. While at A.G. Edwards, Jon served as the Managing Director of Public Finance, growing the Firm's public finance department from a national ranking of 37th to 8th. Jon also served on the A.G. Edward's Board of Directors. He was the senior supervising banker on the work-out of bankruptcy by Orange County, California (the largest municipal bankruptcy in United States history).
After leaving A.G. Edwards, Jon became a partner at J.C. Bradford and Managing Director of Public Finance. While banking at J.C. Bradford, Jon served as senior banker on one of the first publicly sold bond issues in which the proceeds were utilized for the forward purchase of natural gas. He and members of the Firm have since developed a "fuel price stabilization" bond program to allow municipalities and school districts to better budget for natural gas, diesel and electrical energy costs.
Jon has spent his entire career both as a lawyer and a banker in the public finance arena.
